Get Your License – Appraiser
To get the initial Appraisal Trainee (AT) License you need 150 hours of Basic Education, which must include 15 hours of USPAP (Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice).
To upgrade to the full Appraisal License (AL), you must have 2,000 hours of experience in addition to the course hours listed above.
To upgrade to the Certified Residential License (AR) you need an additional 50 hours of Basic Education Courses plus an Associate Degree and 2,500 hours of experience.
To upgrade to the Certified General License (AG) you need another 100 hours of Basic Education (300 total, including those listed above) plus a Bachelor’s Degree and 3,000 hours of experience.

Renew Your License – Appraiser
You need 14 hours of Continuing Education courses for each year you are licensed. Included in this requirement is the need to take the 7-hour National USPAP Update course once during each two-year period.
